one...two...three - ready. GO. . .

Yes. My little granddaughter was born on Sunday afternoon. Talk about being very congenial - She really decided to be as little trouble as possible. Her grandparents, Neal and Judy, had just left, unfortunately - they didn't get to meet her. She waited til Vincent had someone to watch over him. It was the weekend - during the day. Nancy called mid-morning and left a message on my answering machine, that she was in labor. We were out food shopping for Lue's birthday dinner that afternoon. So I immediately called her back when we got in. She was still at home and said she'd call when they left for the hospital. She thought it would be a while.

The afternoon went by and Sharon and her family and Lue came for dinner. We were in the kitchen having drinks, when Nancy called around 4:30. So I said - you're on your way? Nope - she'd already had the baby! She'd just gotten to the hospital in time! So. . . she had no time to call beforehand. She then told me my granddaughter's name - Yvonne Lois. She'll be known as Evie. 7 lbs. 10 oz. Her middle name is for Dan's maternal grandmother, Lois, who passed away last year. She has brown hair like her mom. And grandmother (had.) They're coming home this morning. It seems like such a short time. But it's the usual. Nowadays.

It seemed like we waited forever and ever for a picture, but of course - it wasn't long at all. Dan kindly put some on e-mail for us to see last night. There's one of Nancy and Evie - with a beaming Nancy. I fell in love with that one. Must get a copy.

So - Lue will be sharing her birthday day with little Evie from now on. Perhaps and probably not together. . . but in spirit! A day or two ago, Lue decided she wanted to bake a cake to bring here, but we insisted that she not bake for her birthday. That's something that is just not allowed! Sharon said she'd bake a cake. Okay, Lue said begrudgingly because she had her mind set on a specific kind of apple cake. She e-mailed the recipe to Sharon, and Sharon made it. Bless her. I can see why Lue loved it - it was delicious. I must get the recipe.

Tonight is Gracie's graduation from Obedience class at Petsmart. It's quite appropriate that its raining cats and dogs right now. I hope it lets up by tonight. I blinked my eyes and it stopped.

Evie missed being born on Jil and Epril's anniversary by a day. Jil and Epril took a vacation for their second anniversary at a beautiful Filipino resort on the sea. He took some videos and still pictures and put them on his blog. Wow. What a fantastically gorgeous site. Congratulations to you both!

Okay. That's all the news for now. What's happenin' in your neck o' the woods?
